Chain Conveyors

The chain conveyor consists of one or more endless chains on which loads are carried directly. In transporting bulk materials, a chain is located in the bottom of a trough and pulls the material through the trough. Chain conveyors are often used to transport tote boxes and pallets. Chain Conveyors use roller chain as a medium of material conveyance. Standard or special chains with attachments with single or double pitch makes an extremely customised conveyor. The use of conveyors has been one of the most significant and important developments in the industrial world.

A skilled worker needs to be paid an income which will keep him on the job, and the company employing him will want to get as much productivity out of each worker as possible. If that worker is constantly having to leave his skilled work to transport items from one place to another, clearly what constitutes a waste of his abilities. While it would be possible in theory to employ workers at a far lower wage to carry out the menial tasks, a far better solution is the employment of automation.

Many industry sectors use chain conveyor technology in their production lines. The automotive industry commonly uses chain conveyor systems to convey car parts through paint plants. Chain conveyors also have widespread use in the white and brown goods, metal finishing and distribution industries.

Chain conveyors are also used in the painting and coating industry, this allows for easier paint application. The products are attached to an above head chain conveyor, keeping products off of the floor allows for higher productivity levels. This means that there is totally efficient transportation of the items, which is what all conveyor systems set out to achieve. Chain conveyor systems are so advanced now that they can transport items virtually anywhere.

Some of the key features of chain conveyors are that they don’t need equipment for reclaiming the fine material, low costs of maintenance and exploitation, high reliability and low required space. They can operate horizontally, with an incline, and even with bends and junctions. It is possible to create a genuine transport network within a factory or workplace which can transport items to wherever they are needed just in time. At IServe Inc., chain conveyors are designed for high load applications. Different chain and wear strip options make for an extremely low maintenance and robust conveyor. The modular construction allows for the design and manufacture of larger automation and material handling systems.
